Over 30 Days at Sea. More than 25 Participants. The Foundation for Safe Boating and Marine Information has sponsored an on-the-water education program dedicated to introducing the residents of the local area to their marine environment. This year the topics included marlinspike seamanship skill building, navigation and chart plotting basics, and whale watching / marine biology basics during the 4-hour cruises aboard the Foundation’s vessels. On land, pre- and post- boating season, the mission continues with education for the public with respect to our local waters, being good samaritans and custodians to the coast.
Below are just some of the sights from the season of Teach and Take a Kid daysails. The boats used were Sonar 23′ keelboats, and a Hunter 31′ cruising sloop. For more information about the 2015 season plans and how you can get involved, visit the FSB Website.
